ENPre-school age is the second stage of a child’s more rapid evolution in all spheres of development. The specific character of the transitional period requires special groundwork for a pedagogue, as a child at this age applies automatic bearing control, joint agility and anti-gravitational force for acquiring new skills. The aim of the research is to explore the prevalence of asymmetric carriage and initial symptoms of scoliosis in pre-school groups. It also investigates dependence of early indications of scoliosis and asymmetry on a body mass index. The research was carried out in preschool groups at kindergartens of Šiauliai and its region. 349 children (162 girls and 187 boys) aged between 6 and 7 were observed during the research. The investigation revealed that more than half of children attending educational institutions are of asymmetric carriage with the development of shoulders, shoulder blade and arms triangles asymmetry. The distribution of boys and girls’ asymmetric bearing frequency and body mass index is approximately equal, and positive FBT (Forward Bent Test) is more characteristic for boys. The investigation revealed that a child’s posture depends upon his physical development. The preventive estimation of a child’s carriage is indispensable at pre-school age.
