ENIn the context of approaching date of the implementation of obligatory pre-primary education in Lithuania, an updated Curriculum for Pre-primary Education (2014) is analysed in the article. The major changes comparing with the Curriculum (2003) are described - both structural and content oriented, also conceptual. Much greater importance in the updated curriculum is given to the needs of every child and the role of a teacher, serving them; to the better balance between needs and potential of a child. The status of a child is more obvious in the curriculum; active participation of a child in pedagogical process is stressed. Also a new concept of child maturity to school is revealed - it is based not on standards (as before), but on individualisation and real achievements of a child (basing on his capacities). A very serious focus is placed on the context of child's life, on the importance of his emotional and physical security and health; teachers, other pedagogues, parents are oriented to cooperate much more purposefully. Creativity and responsibility of the teachers is a must.
