Summary / Abstract:

Reikšminiai žodžiai: Aukščiausios dvasinės vertybės; Dvasinės vertybės; Epistolinis bendravimas; Motina; Motinos pareigos; Motinos įtaka; Tremtis; Tėvo paveikslas; Ugdymas; Virtualus tėvo paveikslas; Education; Epistolary communicati; Epistolary communication; Highest spiritual values; Mother's influence; Mothers responsibilities; On; Portrait of the father; Siberia Exile; Spiritual values; The mother; Virtual portrait of the father.

ENThe article discusses the role of parents (especially of a mother) in fostering spiritual values in Siberian exile. The issue is analysed based on exile poetry, letters from parents and author's exile experience. Research of exile poetry and memoir literary has shown that both authors think of both parents as the first moral support but highlight that the impact of mothers plays an invaluable role in developing spirituality. It was an unprecedented effort encouraged by a big loss. The special role of mothers in introducing their spiritual values becomes more evident; a lot of exiled mothers were teachers. A mother's love was also extremely important for young political prisoners: memories about their mothers were just as important for them as their Homeland. Spiritual relationship with their fathers was weaker due to several reasons: first, many deportees became orphans and never saw their fathers again after the arrest. There was no direct communication with the fathers, only an epistolary relationship existed. Also, the educational thoughts in the letters of fathers were more theoretical, drawn up in the context of an environment that was accessible to the parents of the gulag. Moreover, the spiritual features of teenage years still have not fully formed, they were weak and changed due to external impacts. They must be adjusted constantly, and fathers were not able to do that. They were only able to lead by the instinct of fatherhood and adjust the powers of the children described in the wives' letters. It is noted that letters from fathers that were saved for the whole life became relics that reminded of important people. Fathers that were not separated from their families had less time for kids than the mothers due to hard working conditions.
