ENThe humorist Juozas Erlickas is one of the most popular writers in Lithuania. In the years of independence Erlickas became the harshest critic of the stereotypes of Soviet thinking. His texts ate ironic chronicle of this transitional period. Erlickas aptly records typical aspects of reality, re-evaluation of values. In the collection of humorous prose "The Book" (1996) he shows us the generalized portrait of the Homo sovieticus. "The Book" is a mosaic composition of parody poems, humoresques, essays and ironic letters, where the same characters are involved in similar situations of the absurdity of everyday life. He imitates well known works, sentimental romances or popular songs, he plays with cultural context. Erlickas' name turned into a synonym for absurd comicality - erickyne.
