ENThere are eight pairs of short and long vowels in the dialect of Gervėčiai and they may be long and short. The vowels of both types may have half-long variants. The consonants i, s, ž, с, с, r, š, t, d, m, n, b, z and v are made hard in the dialect, especially in its western part. The consonant l is made hard systematically in the most of the dialect, the consonant s is made hard sometimes, the consonant r is made hard rarely and the consonants š and f are never made hard. The consonants b, c, č, d, m, n, p , t, z , f and v are made hard only in separate words. Three areas are formed in a small dialect of Gervėčiai according to the hardening of the consonants. The consonants are made hard more often near the main area of the Lithuanian language and by younger speakers. The dialect has soft consonants i, n, s, š, с and cf in the end of the words. This local dialect retains the main peculiarities of the dialect of the Vilniškiai. The local dialects of Gervėčiai (and Lazūnai') retained the synonymy of morphological forms and archaisms.
