Summary / Abstract:

ENRevolutionary events of 1988-1991 in Soviet Union affeted the life of Vilnius region: they demonstrated national differences, mentalities, national problems that were silenced before. But even a quarter of century passsed many of these problems are still around. We still hear angry voices claiming that Lithuania neglects education of minorities, though it provides more financial alocations to it than any other state in the world. These myths are still widespread in In Vilnius and Šalčininkai regions providing fuel to misunderstanding between Lithuania and its neighbors.
