Encountering deaf people and Levinas
LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjama autorės patirtis su kurčiaisiais ir iš šios patirties kilusios refleksijos, paskatinusios autorę ieškoti religinio ir filosofinio pagrindo joms pagrįsti. Siekiama atskleisti, kad žmogus yra pasiruošęs gyventi pasaulyje su tais, kurie yra kitokie nei jis pats, teigiant, kad tokiu būdu žmogus gali geriau pažinti Dievą, kuris taip pat iš pradžių pasirodo kaip svetimas. Nagrinėjama 2008m. Klaipėdoje įkurtos mokyklos „Portikas“ veikla, pažymint, kad mokyklos meno klasės buvo naudingas tiltas, padedantis bendrauti su kurčiais žmonėmis, įsijungusiais į mokyklos veiklą. Aprašydama vieno jos nario, berniuko Mato, istoriją, autorė pažymi, kad jo šeima buvo geras pavyzdys, kaip įveikti atotrūkį tarp girdinčiųjų ir kurčiųjų pasaulių. Pažymima, kad berniukas susiduria su tuo, kad jo šeimos pasaulis yra kitoks nei jo paties, taigi susiduria su dviems skirtingais pasauliais: kurčiųjų ir girdinčiųjų. Straipsnyje klausiama, ar visuomenė yra taip pat pasirengusi suprasti kitoniškumą, suprasti, kad kitoniškumas taip pat yra bendruomenės, pasaulio ir galiausiai Dievo dalis. Remdamasi E. Levino filosofija ir jos „Kito“ samprata, autorė teigia, kad susitikimas su Kitu palengvina ir net lemia susitikimą su Dievu – apreikštu ir kartu liekančiu paslaptimi. Teigiama, kad žmogus negali pasislėpti ar pabėgti nuo Kito arba kurti visuomenę, kurioje būtų tik pageidaujami žmonės, kad kiekvienas žmogus negali būti redukuotas į visumos dalį. Daroma išvada, kad Kitas visada prašo mano individualaus atsakymo, ir todėl susitikimas su kitu gali formuoti žmogaus etines vertybes.
ENThe article includes analysis on author's experience with the deaf and reflections arising from this experience, which had motivated the author to look for a religious and philosophical basis helping to reason them. The aim is to reveal the fact that a person is prepared to live in a world with those who are different from himself/herself, stating that in this way a person is able to understand God, who also originally appears as a stranger, better. This article also includes analysis on the activity of school Portikas established in Klaipėda in 2008 highlighting that art classes were a useful bridge for communication with deaf people involved in school activities. Presenting the story of one of its members, i.e. a boy named Matas, the author notes that his family was a good example showing how to eliminate the gap occurring between the worlds of hearing and deaf people. It is indicated that the boy experiences that his family's world is different from his own and therefore is affected by two different worlds, i.e. worlds of deaf and hearing people. The article then includes a question asking whether the society is also ready to understand differentness, to understand that differentness is also a part of the community, world, and, finally, God. Basing on E. Levinas philosophy and its concept of Other, the author states that the meeting with the Other facilitates and even determines the meeting with God, i.e. the revealed and, at the same time, left secret. It is stated that a person can not hide or escape from the Other, or to create a society containing only the desirable people. Every human being can not be reduced to a part of the whole. It is concluded that the Other always asks for my individual answer; therefore, the meeting with the other may form ethical values of a man.
