Summary / Abstract:

Reikšminiai žodžiai: Bronzos amžius; Kaimavietė; Kultūrinis sluoksnis; Kundos kultūra; Mezolitas; Pasieniai1, gyvenvietė; Pasienių I gyvenvietė; Pietryčių Lietuva; Svidrių kultūra; Titnaginiai radiniai; 16 amžius; 17 amžius; 18 amžius; 19 amžius; 20 amžius; 16th – 20th centuries; Bronze Age; Cultural layer; Flint artefacts; Kunda Culture; Mesolithic; Pasieniai 1, settlement; Pasieniai I settlement; South -Eastern Lithuania; Swiderian Culture; Village site.

ENPasieniai 1 is a settlement located in Vilnius county, at the right bank of a river Neris and it approximately covers an area of 50x30 meters. It was discovered in 1979 and has been studied by archaeologists for a few times. The article discusses the most recent archaeological discoveries made in the settlement of Pasieniai 1. During the excavations, the cut was researched. On top of it remained 8-50 centimeters of forest floor, destroyed by ploughing long time ago. Underneath it laid 5-30 centimeters layer of vibrant yellow sand – the cultural layer of Pasieniai 1. During the investigation of the settlement, 40 different spots and a few bolder congestions were identified. Some of the investigated objects date back to the stone age. Around 5800 articles made of different types of stones were also discovered. One third of these was found in the cultural layer. Most of the articles were made of flint. According to the typological-technological criteria, the findings can be categorised into three groups (A. B and C). More than 30 of findings can be placed in group A. These are covered in a thick layer of patina and their surface is slightly polished. More than 300 of flint findings belong to group B. They are covered in a rather thick bluish – whitish patina. Group C has more than 4800 articles made of flint and other materials. All of the findings from group C date back to the early Mesolithic period (the beginning of Pre-Boreal period) and are attributed to the late Swiderian culture. During the investigations of the settlement, fragments of ceramics were found – around 400 small pottery pieces. A part of these date back to the Bronze and Iron ages.
