Summary / Abstract:

EN"Egodocuments" is not a librarianship term, therefore they are not identified at the memory institutions of that kind as a separate unit of account or complex; however, the "egodocument" term can be applied to many documents. In the structures of manuscript document collections (personal, institutions, land holdings etc.) used at the libraries egodocuments are found among personal documents, biographic material, correspondence, family documents. Following these provisions, exploration of personal archives accumulated in the Rare Book and Manuscript Department has identified that not all of them contain such documents. Taking into consideration specificity of formation of the National Library manuscript document collection, it is evident that these are not old documents – mostly of the end of the 19th century-the 20th century. The private correspondence makes the main part of the documents. [From the publication]
