Summary / Abstract:

Reikšminiai žodžiai: Baltų bendruomenė; Etnokultūrinis sąjūdis; Lietuvių etnografinė veikla; Lietuvos studentų pasipriešinimas; Ramuvos judėjimas, sovietmetis, Vilniaus universitetas, etnografija, neopagonybė, pasipriešinimas; Romuvos klubas; Sovietų Lietuva; Studentų judėjimas Ramuva; Vilniaus universitetas (VU; Vilnius University); Club of the Romuva; Community of the Balts; Ethno-cultural movement; Lithuanian ethnographic activity; Ramuva movement, soviet period, Vilnius university, ethnography, neo-paganism, resistance; Resistance of Lithuanian students; Soviet Lithuania; Student movement of the Ramuva.

ENThe article discusses the movement of the academic youth "Ramuva" and its activities from passive resistance manifestations to the formation of the old Balts faith community. The aim of the study is to investigate the activity of the club "Ramuva” of Vilnius University activities and to find how the club was related to the passive resistance against the Soviet regime. The article is based on the material from Vilnius University Manuscript Department, periodicals and personal reflection of the author. The research method is to compare the official, by the Communist Party approved activity programme of "Ramuva" with the actual events lists, media information and personal experience. The article overviews the historical cultural context in which "Ramuva" developed and formed, the ideas, which led to the establishment of the club, the participants of the movement and their work are presented. Attention is drawn to the structure and members of "Ramuva", the restrictions applied to the club activity and the attempts to find compromises are pointed out. It is emphasised that after 1972, "Ramuva" was able to survive only by having a political support. The club's political posture in aspect of occupation politics is commented, the results of the activity and the fate of the movement are highlighted. One of "Ramuva" activities was to resist the Soviet regime. This conclusion is justified by the fact that, despite after 1990, it was especially favourable conditions to establish clubs which cherished national culture, however, the club's activity was limited and stopped in 1996. Instead, "Naujoji Ramuva" club formed, which eventually became a religious community of the old Balts faith.
