"Opowieść o sobie samym i swoich czasach” : Mamert Herburt do Adama Kirkora w kwietniu 1870 roku

Publikuojant spausdintu tekstu buvo padaryti nežymūs pakeitimai pritaikant prie dabartinės kalbos ir skyrybos reikalavimų, tačiau išlaikant kai kuriuos archaizmus ir regionalizmus. Praleisti pasikartojimai. Gerai išsilaikęs kopijos rankraštis yra saugomas Lenkijos Mokslų akademijos Kurnikų bibliotekoje. Šaltinis skelbiamas su nedideliais atskirų vietų paaiškinimais išnašose, įvadiniame tekste aptariami šaltinio publikavimo ypatumai. Publikacijos įvade minėto laiško turinys nėra komentuojamas, pažymint, kad tuo turėtų užsiimti specialistai. Įvade atkreipiamas dėmesys į titanišką M. Herburto darbą parengiant Vilniaus kapitulos ir diecezijos archyvo dokumentų registrų tomus nuo XIV a. iki XIX a. vidurio. Prelatas M. Herburtas laiške A. Kirkorui išdėstė ataskaitą apie jo parašytus 8 tomus. Laiško tekste informuojama apie kiekvieno iš 8 tomų turinį ir chronologinius rėmus. Jis rašė H. Kirkorui, tikėdamasis jo pagalbos. Vis dėlto iš laiško teksto nėra pakankamai aišku, kokios. Skelbiamame laiško kopijos tekste laiško data nėra nurodyta, tačiau iš laiško turinio galima spręsti, kad laiškas rašytas 1870 m. balandžio mėn.
ENThe publication contains a copy of a letter written by a prelate Mamert Herburt to a well-known Vilnius archaeologist, publicist and public figure, publisher, Adam Kirkor. A comparison of the handwriting found in the letter with that of Herburt suggests that it was rewritten by hand by the author himself. When publishing the printed version of the text, minor changes were made paying attention to the requirements of the current language and punctuation, but some archaisms and regionalizations were retained. Repetitions were omitted. The well-preserved handwritten copy is stored at the Kornik Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The published source includes short explanations of specific aspects in the footnotes and the introductory text discusses the peculiarities of publishing the source. In the introduction to the publication, the content of the aforementioned letter is not commented on, indicating that this should be done by specialists. The introduction focuses on the tremendous work done by Herburt while preparing the volumes of the document registers of the Vilnius Cathedral Chapter and Diocese taking up the time period from the 14th century until the middle of the 19th century. In his letter to Kirkor, prelate Herburt provided a report on the 8 volumes that he has written. The text of the letter informs about the content and chronological framework of each of the 8 volumes. He wrote to Kirkor hoping for help. However, the letter does not reveal what kind of help Herburt needed. The date of the letter is not specified in the published copy of the letter, but from the content of the letter it is possible to assume that the letter was written in April of 1870.
