Die Evangelische Kirche im Memelland des 20. Jahrhunderts

LTKlaipėdos krašto istorija rodo, kad ir XX amžiuje tam tikromis sąlygomis galėjo atsirasti naujas regionas. Jis gimė kaip Versalio taikos sutarties produktas. Į dešinę nuo Nemuno esančios Rytų Prūsijos žemės buvo atskirtos nuo Vokietijos ir paskelbtos politiniu vienetu – „Klaipėdos kraštu“. Po šio krašto susigrąžinimo 1939 m. Vokietija uždraudė vartoti šio krašto vokišką įvardijimą Memelgebiet, Memelland. Iki 1919 m. toks pavadinimas irgi buvo žinomas, tačiau tada omenyje turėdavo Nemuno žemupio kraštą abipus upės su Ragainės, Tilžės apskritimis ir visa Nemuno delta. Lietuva, atgavusi kraštą po 1945 m., taip pat nevartojo Klaipėdos krašto, traktuodama jį geriausiu atveju tik kaip istorinę kategoriją. Nepaisant to, 1919–1939 m. tas kraštas realiai egzistavo, formavosi krašto gyventojų savimonė, o ir po 1990 metų ypatingas šio krašto savitumas išliko. Tarp jo gyventojų stiprėja regioninė sąmonė ir krašto istorinio savitumo suvokimas, ką stiprina auganti regiono ūkinė reikšmė. Straipsnyje nagrinėjamas Liuteronų Bažnyčios vaidmuo Klaipėdos krašte XX amžiuje: laikotarpiu iki 1918 m., bažnytinė situacija Klaipėdos krašte 1919–1945 m., 1944–1990 m. laikotarpiu. Nors 60–70 proc. visų krašto gyventojų dabar sudaro katalikai, tačiau Liuteronų Bažnyčia čia išlieka reikšminga kaip svarbi sąsaja su su krašto istorija ir kultūra. ENThe history of Klaipėda region show, how given certain conditions, a new region emerged in the 20th century as a consequence of the peace Treaty of Versailles. Eastern Prussian lands at the right side of the Nemunas river were separated from Germany and declared to be a political unit - the Klaipėda region. After Germany retrieved the region in 1939, the German referral to it as Memelgebiet or Memelland was prohibited. Even though these names were known before 1919, they referred to the Nemunas downstream region at both sides of the river, covering counties of Neman and Tilsit and the whole Nemunas Delta. After Lithuania retrieved the region after 1945, it did not use the name Klaipėda region as well, seeing it as a historical name at most. Nevertheless, the region existed in 1919-1939, the identity of its residents developed and the characteristics of this region remained even after 1990. Regional consciousness and the insight of the region's historical peculiarity is growing among its residents, as enhanced by the growing economic significance of the region. This article examines the role of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Klaipėda region in 20th century to 1918 and the position of the church in Klaipėda region in 1919-1945 and in 1944-1990. Even though currently around 60-70 % of all residents of the region are Catholic, Lutheran Church remains an important part of the history and culture of the region. The percentage of Lutherans in local society remains relatively higher than anywhere else in Lithuania and their local communities have certain regional peculiarities compared to the Lutheran Church on the country level.
