ENThe methodological aspects of determining the common mental city image are investigated in the paper. Suggestions for optimization, simplification and formalization of K. Lynch's classical methods to find the common city image are made. It could help to use the theories of K. Lynch more widely in urban design and to assure a higher quality of town planning as well. The methodological suggestions were tested in the city of Kaunas. The common image of Kaunas is described as well. [From the publication]
