The Evolving relations between India and the Baltic States

LTStraipsnyje mėginama apžvelgti Indijos ir Baltijos šalių du dešimtmečius besivystančius santykius. Teigiama, kad indų ir baltų kultūros, kalbos, papročiai bei kilmė turi panašių bruožų. Indijos ir Baltijos šalių politiniai lyderiai teigia, jog būtina atgaivinti praeities civilizacijos ryšius, siekiant stiprinti dabartinius santykius. Indijos santykiai su Baltijos valstybėmis vystosi remiantis užsienio politikos prioritetais, abipuse pagarba ir nauda, bendrais interesais bei iššūkiais. Nuo pat diplomatinių santykių atkūrimo pradžios 1992 m. Indijos ir Baltijos valstybės palaiko nuoširdžius ir draugiškus santykius. Šiuo metu yra didelės galimybės plėsti Indijos ir Baltijos šalių ateities bendradarbiavimą, kuris visoms pusėms atneš daugiau pažangos, klestėjimo, stabilumo ir gerovės.

ENArticle seeks to reflect upon two decades of India’s evolving relations with the Baltic States. It is argued that, indeed, the Indians and the Balts have similarities in culture, language, customs, and ancestry. Revitalising the civilisational ties of the past seems to be relevant, as reflected in speeches of Indian and Baltic political leadership, in order to further strengthen current relations. India’s relations with the Baltic States are evolving on the basis of foreign policy priorities, mutual respect and benefits, common interests and challenges. Since the re-establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, India’s cooperation with the Baltic States has been growing in a cordial and friendly way. At present there is a high potential for developing a prospective relation between India and the Baltic States that will bring more progress, prosperity, stability, and wellbeing to both entities.
