Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje aptariamas vienas iš sakralių tradicinės kaimo kultūros objektų - šulinys, ieškoma to sakralumo ištakų, analizuojamos šulinio ir šulinio vandens funkcijos ryškiausiose kalendorinėse ir šeimos šventėse. Etnografinė ir tautosakinė medžiaga patvirtina, jog šulinys turi neabejotinų sąsajų su chtoniškąja trinarės pasaulio sistemos dalimi. ENIn the traditional rural culture a well has always been one of the sacred places of a farmstead. The traces of its sacred nature can be discovered in the rites of the traditional (Christmas Eve and Christmas. Easter. Midsummer Night) and family (births, weddings) festivals in fairy tales, legends and in folklore. After an analysis of the examples of festivals or folklore materials related to the well or well water, the following meanings of it can be marked out: a) a part of the underground world model; b) an abode of the departed ancestors and spirits; c) the border, the link, the channel of information between the two worlds; d) the place of world outlook and initial possibilities.
