ENThe article represents an attempt to better understand the problems behind the current state of the Polish-Lithuanian relations and to identify desirable changes in this domain. For this purpose, the first part of the article provides a brief overview of the past relations of the two nations. Then, the author analyses the current state of the cooperation between Poland and Lithuania, with particular emphasis on economic cooperation. In the penultimate section, the effects of the unsatisfactory political cooperation on the economic cooperation are illustrated on the example of the Polish investment in the refinery in Mažeikiai. The last part contains conclusions and recommendations for future cooperation.
