ENIn November 1926, a farmer, J. Radżius, of the Nasvytaliai village in the district of Šilal in western Lithuania found the largest hoard of gold medieval coins ever found in the country. Part of the hoard was sold in separate portions to individuals. The police confiscated part of the hoard and transferred it to the State Bank. After negotiations between the fin der and the National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum at the beginning of 1929, the state bought 228 golden coins, 2 golden rings, 12 silver spoons, and a piece of silver chain. 70 duplicates of golden Netherlands coins we re returned to the finder. The pastor of Teneniai parish had purchased one golden coin dating from 1656 (fig. 1) in 1932. The part of the hoard that was recovered is kept at the National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum.
