Lettgallisch und Schemaitisch - eine Misserfolgsgeschichte. Sprachliche Standardisierungsprozesse im Spannungsfeld von Privatheit, Identität und Nation in Lettland und Litauen
LTDarbe analizuojama latgalių ir žemaičių kalbų istorija, parodant jas kaip istorijos peripetijų nuskriaustas kalbas. Pabrėžiama, kad kalbant apie naciją ir kalbą, dažniausiai pasakojama sėkmės istorija – nacionalinės valstybės ir jos kalbos istorija. Autoriaus nuomone, signifikantines tokių ekstralingvistinių faktorių kaip „privatumas“, identitetas“, „politinė emancipacija“ sąlygas daug geriau galima suprasti tuose dialektuose, kurie 19 amžiuje nepatyrė sėkmės, nors jai buvo visos sąlygos. Pažymima, kad tiek latgalių, tiek ir žemaičių kalbomis iki 1864 metų būta įvairių rašytinių paminklų, tačiau nepaisant palankios situacijos šių kalbų emancipacija neįvyko, ir abi kalbos liko tik dialektais. Analizuojamas kalbų standartizacijos procesas, ypač akcentuojant gramatikų reikšmę. Teigiama, kad kalbos standartizacijos procesas vyksta, kai vieno ar keleto asmenų pasiūlytos normos tampa daugelio normomis, kai esama objektyvaus rašytinės ir žodinės kalbos standarto, kai standartizuota bendrinė kalba apima didelę teritoriją. Pažymima, kad 19 amžiaus pradžioje buvo prasidėję svarbios diskusijos dėl žemaičių kalbos standartizacijos. Ypač akcentuojama Dionizo Poškos veikla. Parodoma, kad toks procesas buvo įgavęs pagreitį ir latgalių kalboje, tačiau dėl nepalankių geopolitinių aplinkybių nesiplėtojo taip, kaip būtina. Autorius mano, kad šioms kalbos tapti nacionalinėmis trukdė ekstralingvistiniai faktoriai, pirmiausia - nerealizuota politinės emancipacijos būtinybė, būtinybė save kaip latgalius ir žemaičius atskirti nuo latvių ar lietuvių.
ENThe work analyses the history of the Latgalian and Žemaitian languages by demonstrating them as the languages, which suffered a lot in the twists of history. The author emphasises that when speaking about a nation or a language, the history of success is usually presented, i.e. the history of a national state and its language. The author believes that significant conditions of such extra-linguistic factors as "privacy", "identity, "political emigration" can be best perceived in such dialects, which did not experience any success in the 19th c. The work emphasises that various written monuments in the Latgalian and Žemaitian languages existed before 1864, however, despite such a favourable situation, the emancipation of these languages was not successful, and the both languages remained dialects. The process of standardisation of languages is analysed, with the main focus placed on the significance of grammars. The author claims that the process of language standardisation takes place when standards offered by one or another person become standards for many people. It is also noted in the book that the beginning of the 19th c. was marked with the emergence of significant discussions over the standardisation of the Žemaitian language. Activities of Dionizas Poška are especially emphasised. The author demonstrates that such a process was also initiated with regard to the Latgalian language, however, due to insufficient geopolitical support, it did not develop into a proper form. The author believes that the nationalisation of these languages was impeded by extra-linguistic factors, first by the unfulfilled necessity of emancipation, and the necessity to separate Latgalians and Žemaitians from Latvians and Lithuanians.
