ENFulgentas Rimgaila (1805-1870) studied architecture in Vilnius University as K.Podčašinskis student from 1821 to 1828, later prolonging the studies in Germany and France. For a long time he lived and worked in Paris. In 1857 he returned to Lithuania, where lived till death. The article, based on reminescences and documents gathered by architect’s nephew Feliksas Rimgaila, concerns his life and main works (churches in Šiaulėnai and Beržėnai, palace in Pagrįžuvys). Letters’ quotations, from which architect’s views on science and architecture are seen, a lot of biographical details are presented.
