Motiejus Gustaitis - kunigas, švietėjas, peagogas (1870-1927)

LTŠiame straipsnyje charakterizuojamas kunigo, mokyklų globėjo Motiejaus Gustaičio (1870 - 1927) indėlis į lietuvybės žadinimą ir puoselėjimą carinės Rusijos okupuotoje Lietuvoje XX a. pradžioje. Aptariamos jo atvirumą ugdymo vertybėms, pasiryžimą tarnauti tautai, jos švietimui lėmusios aplinkybės. Atskleidžiamos pedagogines pažiūros, tarp jų - religinio ugdymo vieta ugdymo sistemoje. M. Gustaičio asmenybės branda, veiklos kryptys, dalyvavimas atgimstančios tautos gyvenime, individualumo raiška vertinama jo gyvenamojo laikotarpio įvykių, žmonių būties ir kultūros kontekste.

ENIn the article the author characterizes the contribution of a protector of schools priest Motiejus Gustaitis (1870-1927) in evoking and fostering Lithuanian nationality in Lithuania, occupied by tzarist Russia, in the first and the second decades of the 20th century.The author also discusses the circumstances which decided M. Gustaitis's attitude to the values of upbringing, his firm resolution to serve his nation and its education. Together with this, pedagogical ideas and the place of religious bringing up in the system of education of the time are revealed. Maturity of M. Gustaitis's personality, his activity trends, his participation in the life of his reviving nation and the expression of his individuality are analysed in the context of the events of that period, the life and culture of people.
