ENIn the modern didactic the effectiveness of the didactic games in the learning process is discussed more frequently. The author of the article made research into the implement of concrete didactic games in the primary classes of school. The research has shown that didactic games are developing children's imagination and their ability to solve mathematical problems. It was identified a statistically significant difference in the ability of pupils from experimental (90.5 proc.) and controlling (68 proc.) classes to measure and draw a segment of a fixed length ( =10.9, p<0.005). It is asserted that pupils from experimental classes are able to formulate a mathematical problem better, however material differences between controlling and experimental classes were not identified. A significant difference between experimental (48.4 proc.) and controlling (21 proc.) classes from the statistical point of view was noticed when analysing the complexity of text task prepared by pupils (= 14.77, p<0.0001). The author concludes that didactic games are good method, which can help schoolchildren to develop gradually the skills of abstract thought. [From the publication]
