It is particularly significant for school teachers, pupils and their parents, because it determines the survival of rural areas and other problems relevant to the state. The paper analyses the advantages and disadvantages of rural schools and the factors of their survival (extinction). The paper presents a specific case of reorganisation of the school network in Šilalė District and related problems.
