ENThis report gives data on what children aged 9-12 perceive as being the most common sanctions as grown-ups reactions to good or poor behaviour. The data are compared cross - culturally with the results of analogous research made by Ekstrand & Ekstrand in 1986 in Sweden and India. 314 respondents participated in the research in Lithuania. Results have revealed that the most common reactions are verbal. 81.5% of Lithuanian children mention, that they are praised for good behaviour and 67.5% - that grown-ups scold for poor. There was found a high percentage of rewards (giving children something for good behaviour) - 43.4%. Other reactions to poor behaviour are getting sad (21.3%), explaining, talking (25.1%), forbidding to do something (22%). Comparing with Swedish and Indian data reactions to the good behaviour are the same, but parents in Lithuania use more different sanctions. It seems that parents in Lithuania aware their expectations better than Swedish and Indian parents, because they make more efforts to transmit them to children using verbal channels.
