ENThe author of the article emphasizes that the idea to Lithuanize the course of the world history was cherished during the period of the First Republic of Lithuania, in the Soviet Lithuania and during the last two decades of Independence. The overall objective of this activity was to integrate historical development of the world and Lithuania, to present little-known facts about the contribution to and role of the Lithuanians in the world events thus strengthening pupils’ learning motivation. The author accentuates that a thorough analysis of history textbooks, both of the Soviet period and those of the last decades, reveals that textbooks on the world history contain facts about the Lithuanians’ relations with the historical past of other countries. This tendency is more conspicuous in history textbooks published in Lithuania in the tenth decade of the 20th century. The author also distinguishes the main directions in the process of Lithuanization. First, it is relevant to emphasize the participation of the Lithuanians in the events of other countries: in wars and rebellions, economic activities, science and culture spheres. Second, it is advisable to make use of the reminiscences (memoirs) of those Lithuanians who witnessed various world events. Third, the author suggests to make known Lithuanian scientists’ researches, investigating political, economic or cultural events in the world. Fourth, it is recommended to integrate Lithuania into the world historical development through the relationships of historical personalities, works of art, travelers’ experiences.
