Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje aptariamos V a. pradžioje-viduryje - VI a. pirmoje pusėje buv. Palyginamoji kapų inventoriaus analizė leidžia abu kompleksus datuoti V a. antrąja puse. Shosejnoe kapinyno peilius-durklus greičiausiai gamino vietiniai prūsų kalviai, panaudodami vietos pelkių geležies rūdą. Tačiau tuo pat metu galėjo būti naudojama ir importinė žaliava, kurios aptikta analizuojant kapo UI-24 dirbinį. Jos eksporto centru galėjo būti vienalaikis metalurgijos centras Swietokrzyskie (Lenkija), kaimyniniams regionams tiekdavęs mažo fosforingumo geležį. Tai patvirtintų ankstesni Przeworsko kultūros įtakos baltiškoms žemėms pastebėjimai. Šių ir kitų klausimų spektrui ypač vertingi tolesni prūsiškos ginkluotės technologijų metalografiniai tyrimai. ENThe article discusses the technologies of production of knives and daggers spread in the territory of East Prussia and Lithuania in the beginning and middle of the 5th century to the first half of the 6th century. A total of 40 well preserved arms were examined (38 exemplars from the museum “Prussia” and 2 exemplars from the Shosejnoe cemetery). According to the data of a radiographic analysis, the structure of blades of all articles was homogeneous, and no traces of wrought or poured damascene were observed. However, the analysis of 2 knife-daggers from the Schosseinoje cemetery revealed certain technological differences. The blades of the knife-dagger from grave PTI-1 were hammered out of one poorly carbonized piece of iron. Whereas the blades of the knife-dagger from grave UI-24 were produced from a five layer complex pattern of iron with low phosphorus concentration and large ferrite grains. The performed analysis indicated that at least two technological schemes and materials of various origins were used for the production of the above arms. The comparative analysis of the inventory of the graves allows establishing the date of the both complexes, i.e. the second half of the 5th century. The knife-daggers of the Schosseinoje cemetery were most probably hammered by local Prussian smiths, who used the iron ore from the local swamps. However, imported materials discovered when examining grave UI-24 could be used at the same time. The centre of export most probably was located in the then centre of metallurgy in Świętokrzyskie (Poland), which provided the neighbouring regions with low phosphorous iron. This could be proven by earlier observations of the impact of Przeworsk culture on the Baltic lands.
