Summary / Abstract:

ENThe management of relations with consumers includes attraction, maintenance and retrieval of consumers. The author of the article applies the methodology described in the scientific literature to justify the methodology on the retrieval of the lost consumers of SC “Lietuvos Telekomas”. In the scientific literature, it is suggested to use various strategies that enable to control the relations with consumers. The so-called “big tree” management strategy is very common and includes the management of relations with 3 groups of consumers: 1) attraction of new consumers, 2) maintenance of present consumers, and 3) retrieval of former consumers. After the privatization, the short-sighted strategy of SC “Lietuvos Telekomas” by bulling its metropolis services caused unfavourable and painful results. The number of clients that rejected services of fixed communication was constantly growing. In 2002, the company continued balancing tariffs and did not paid attention to the emerged situation. Only after the decision to lower tariffs was adopted, in the 3rd quarter of 2003 the number of consumers who rejected services started to decline in comparison with the last quarters. In order to identify the lost consumers, who are most suitable to be retrieved, the segmentation of the lost consumers should be performed, i.e. finding out the value of the “second life” of consumers and reasons of their retreat from the company. This methodology would allow ranging all consumers according to the sequence regarding the highest and lowest value of the “second life” of lost consumers.
