ENThe article investigates changes in the understanding of human death from Nietzsche to Foucault, as well as its relation to the end of modernity. First, the technology for disposing of God is considered, followed by a discussion of the role of the Übermensch and the last human beings. Distinction is made between the weak and the strong nihilism as indicators of cultural disintegration. The article provides a lengthy description of the symptoms of the apocalyptic culture and the features of the homo consumens age. In conclusion, the article formulates the problem of the recognition of the modern man’s death and describes the potential of the desire to be human.
