Summary / Abstract:

LTPasaulinės turizmo plėtros tendencijos vis labiau akcentuoja naujų turizmo rūšių paiešką, kurios būtų draugiškos aplinkai, atspindėtų darnaus vystymosi principus, nebūtų masinio pobūdžio ir suteiktų kitokių keliavimo bei pažinimo perspektyvų. Viena iš tokių galimybių – alternatyvaus turizmo plėtra. Ji suvokiama kaip alternatyva masiniam turizmui, apimanti tokią turizmo vystymo sritį, kuri nedaro žalos aplinkai, turi ekologinę pakraipą bei yra naudinga vietiniams gyventojams. Atsižvelgiant į tai ir vertinant Lietuvos turistų kaip tipiškų masinių vartotojų požiūrį renkantis ypač populiarią Turkijos kryptį, aktualu panagrinėti šios šalies siūlomą alternatyvaus turizmo produktų pasiūlą bei įvertinti išvykstančių iš Lietuvos vartotojų poziciją renkantis (ir Lietuvos kelionių organizatoriams siūlant) alternatyvius turizmo tipus. ENThe tendencies of the world tourism are putting a greater emphasis on the search for new forms of environment-friendly tourism, reflect the principles of sustainable development, and provide other perspectives of travelling and exploration without being of mass character. One of these possibilities deals with the development of alternative tourism. Considering it as an alternative to the mass standard tourism, it shall incorporate an environment-friendly domain of tourism development that includes an ecological trend and is useful for the local people. Taking into account this situation and evaluating the attitude of Lithuanian tourists as typical mass consumers in choosing a very popular destination of Turkey, it is relevant to examine the supply of products of alternative tourism offered by Turkey and assess the position of Lithuanian consumers selecting (and being offered by Lithuanian travel organisers) the alternative forms of tourism. The analysis of the theoretical aspects of alternative tourism development permits of making assumptions that the development of a number of types of alternative tourism would provide further impetus for sustainable development and ecotourism, owing to its unique dependence on the quality environment, cultural distinctiveness and social interaction, security and well-being that do not represent or accentuate the philosophy of mass tourism.Turkey as the most popular foreign destination of Lithuanian tourists has a motivated potential for developing alternative tourism, especially for the prioritized health and term related tourism that is of great significance to many resorts in Turkey and easily combined with traditional ways of spending one's leisure time. The situation has been aggravated by the unresolved choice of appropriate means of information and collaboration aspect (among the countries being offered and selected).Findings of the research demonstrate the fundamental issues concerning Lithuanian consumers' attitudes towards Turkey viewed as an alternative product offered; these issues can be regarded as the lack of information about alternative types of tourism as well as the lack of co-operation between the countries concerned; moreover, they can also be seen as the necessity to develop tourists' awareness of the impact the mass tourism has on the environment. Nowadays, in pursuing the development of alternative tourism both in Turkey and Lithuania, it is first and foremost necessary to cultivate a tourism consumer's behavioural norms in reinforcing his/her awareness and paying much attention to formation of the pendulum of attitudes and needs.
