Skolotāju sagatavošana Lietuvā padomju periodā: refleksija par pieredzi

ENThe analysis of the research in educational and science institutions and in the science of education in Lithuania highlights the relevance of the subject of teacher training in different historical periods. The article addresses the issue of teacher training in Lithuania during the Soviet times. The chronological boundaries of the issue in question embrace teacher training in the years of the second Soviet occupation (1944–1990). The characteristics of educational institutions providing teacher training (teacher seminaries and higher educational institutions) are reviewed. The article presents the stories of the teachers who acquired education in the Soviet times about the activities of their educational institutions, their accumulated knowledge and experiences. The stories of the teachers contribute to a deeper insight into the experience of the teacher training in the Soviet years, the reflection thereof, and its assessment. Despite the alien ideology imposed upon them, the teacher training seminaries and higher pedagogical institutions that functioned in Lithuania at the time trained teachers for primary and secondary schools and academic staff for higher schools. The teacher training educational institutions boasted diligent and creative staff who encouraged students to feel responsibility for their performance as teachers and to retain their national values.
