ENThe article presents guidelines how to analyse the drama text with the help of a dramatic situation concept; the interpretation example (V. Krėvė's Skirgaila, Epizode 1) has also been submitted. Dramatic situation forces the character to act; he/she has to find their way out of the hopeless situation immediately, here and now, otherwise the situation will only be worse. Dramatic situation is a specific feature of drama genre allowing one to reveal the comprehension of drama (a chain of dramatic situations forms a drama work), it also helps to choose proper references for the analysis of the entire work or its fragment. The basic elements of the analysis of dramatic situation are the dramatic action, external and internal motives for the character's action, as well as the character's nature.
