Critical thinking while teaching English
LTKritinis mąstymas apibrėžia žmogaus protinę veiklą ir gebėjimą mąstyti, todėl tampa ko ne svarbiausia mąstymo kategorija žinių ir ekonomikos visuomenėje, parodanti asmens sugebėjimą pastebėti, suvokti, suprasti ir įvertinti žinias, bei atrinkti, apdoroti ir pakeisti gautą informaciją naujai informacijai sukurti ir pateikti. Universitetas, kaip mokymo paslaugas teikianti institucija pabrėžia universalios asmenybės ugdymą ir siekia išmokyti studentus mąstyti kritiškai. Tai yra ypač aktualu, nes dauguma studentų sugeba tik atkartoti ar mintinai išmokti pateiktą informaciją be jokio gautos informacijos apdorojimo, pakeitimo ar atrinkimo, formuojant savo mąstymo sistemą ir struktūrą. Šis straipsnis pateikia kritinio mąstymo sąvokos apibrėžimus ir struktūrą, bei pristato kritinio mąstymo diegimo tyrimą, atliktą Kauno technologijos universitete, Ekonomikos ir vadybos fakultete anglų kalbos paskaitų metu. Tyrimo tikslas – įdiegti kritinio mąstymo principus anglų kalbos mokymo/mokymosi proceso metu. Uždaviniai: atlikti tikslinės grupės stebėjimus, sukurti priemones kritiniam mąstymui ugdyti bei išanalizuoti tiriamos grupės reakciją į taikomas kritinio mąstymo diegimo priemones.
ENCritical thinking defining a person's mental activity and skills has become the major category in modern economic-knowledge based society, indicating an individual's ability to recognize, conceive, understand and estimate knowledge as well as reverse and recreate the information received. The university as a teaching/learning service providing institution emphasizes the importance of critical thinking in a teaching/learning process as it seeks not only to educate students but to teach them to think, as the majority of students - the recipients of the information just simply repeat the information they read, hear or see with no modifications, thinking or consideration if all the information content meets their specific purposes and needs. Therefore, the article not only presents the background introduction and theory on critical thinking but introduces the research, conducted in Kaunas University of Technology, the aim of which was to implement the methods of critical thinking in the English language teaching/learning process, analyze the response of the target group, interpret the results and draw particular conclusions.
