Valdovų rūmų židinių rekonstrukcijos

LTViduramžiais židiniai ne tik šildė patalpas – jie buvo ir vieni pagrindinių patalpos elementų, apie juos sukosi kasdienis gyvenimas. Vėliau židiniai, įgavę išraiškingą dekorą, tapo ir vienu pagrindinių rūmų interjero architektūrinės bei meninės kompozicijos akcentų, kartais ir pačiu svarbiausiu. Apie Vilniaus Žemutinės pilies valdovų rūmų židinius dokumentacijos beveik nėra, kol kas rastos tik kelios šykščios užuominos istoriografijoje, visiškai neturime ikonografijos. Tyrinėjant Vilniaus Žemutinės pilies valdovų rūmus, rastos tik dviejų židinių liekanos. Seniausias židinys aptiktas aštuoniakampio bokšto dviejų pietrytinių sienų kampe. XVI a. pradžioje rekonstruojant rūmus bokštas buvo nugriautas, kartu sugriautas ir židinys. Apie židinio išvaizdą nieko nežinome. Matyt, tai buvo įprastas gotikinis židinys. Antroji vieta, panaši į buvusio židinio liekanas, yra rytų korpuso pirmame aukšte – čia galėjo būti XVII a. židinys. Kasinėjant rūmų teritoriją buvo rasta nemažai židinių apdailos detalių iš klinties, smiltainio ir marmuro, visų detalių matomas paviršius yra šlifuotas. Apie architektus, projektavusius rūmų židinius, žinių taip pat nėra. Veikiausiai interjero akmeninę apdailą kūrė tie patys rūmų eksterjero architektai. Kol kas nepriimtas sprendimas, kaip elgtis su rastomis architektūrinėmis detalėmis. Esama įvairių nuomonių. Vieni specialistai mano, kad jas reikia įmontuoti į naujai kuriamus židinius, nes tai būtų iliustratyvi medžiaga, rodanti pasirinkto sprendimo pagrįstumą. ENIn the Middle Ages, hearths not only were used to warm rooms, but also were one of the major elements of a room and in the centre of daily life. Later hearths were expressively decorated and became one of the main features of the Palace interior’s architectural and artistic composition, and, sometimes, the most important. There are hardly any documents concerning hearths in the Palace of the Grand Dukes in the Vilnius Lower Castle. So far only several brief references have been discovered in historiography. We do not have any iconography at all. During the research on the Palace of the Grand Dukes in the Vilnius Lower Castle, the remains of just two hearths were found. The oldest hearth was discovered in the corner of two southeastern walls of an octagonal tower. In the process of reconstructing the Palace in the early 16th century, the tower was demolished together with the hearth. We know nothing about the appearance of the hearth. It was probably an ordinary Gothic hearth. The second place that resembles the remains of a former hearth is on the ground floor of the eastern block – a 17th-century hearth could have been here. During the excavations of the Palace area, a number of hearth decoration elements from limestone, sandstone and marble were discovered. The visible surface of all elements is polished. There is no information on architects who designed hearths in the Palace either. The stone decoration of the interior was probably made by the same architects of the Palace exterior. No decision has been reached yet as to what to do with the architectural elements discovered. There are mixed opinions. Some specialists believe that they need to be fitted in newly built hearths, since this would be an illustrative material demonstrating the validity of the decision chosen. There are also views that these findings represent museum treasures and belong to a lapidarium.
