ENThis study investigates the role of sustainable human resource management (HRM) in mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on teacher burnout and examines the HRM actions of schools during the pandemic. Based on a two-wave survey of teachers in Lithuania, we found that teachers at schools with more sustainable HRM were better prepared for online teaching. They demonstrated a higher level of technological competence at the beginning of the pandemic, which meant they required less improvement in technological competence, resulting in a lower level of burnout. Furthermore, more sustainable HRM in schools increased the efficiency of their HRM actions during the pandemic. Keywords: sustainable HRM; well-being; online teaching; COVID-19 pandemic; education.
