Lietuva ir Šventasis Sostas : istorinė perspektyva
LT2003 m. kovo 3 d. įvykusioje mokslinėje konferencijoje pagrindinis dėmesys buvo skirtas Lietuvos Respublikos ir Šventojo Sosto santykių XX a. analizei. Turime pripažinti, kad Šventojo Sosto ir Lietuvos santykiams XX a. vienaip ar kitaip darė įtaką visa ankstesnių amžių istorija, taip pat šimtmečiais spręstos - ir vienos išspręstos, kitos likusios neišspręstos - problemos. Šio darbo tikslas - glaustai perteikti tą istorinį paveldą, kuris vienaip ar kitaip paveikė XX a. Lietuvos ir Vatikano bei kaimyninių valstybių santykių raidą. Aptariama Z.Ivinskio, P.Jatulio, St.Matulio, R.Krasausko, P.Rabikausko, R.Mažeikos ir kitų išeivijos istorikų Vatikano archyvuose aptikta ir paskelbta medžiaga. Taip pat remiamasi Lietuvos istorikų E.Gudavičiaus, A.Bumblausko, M.Jučo, I.Vaišvilaitės, L.Jovaišos ir kitų darbais. ENThe focus of the scholarly conference on 3 March 2003 was the analysis of the relations between the Republic of Lithuania and the Holy See in the 20th century. We have to admit that the full history of the preceding ages and all its problems, some solved and some unresolved during the centuries, influenced in one way or another the relations between Lithuania and the Holy See in the 20th century. The goal of this work is to give a brief description of this historical heritage, which in the 20th century influenced the development of state relations between Lithuania and the Vatican, and other neighboring countries in one way or another. The author reviews the material found in the archives of the Vatican and the publications written by Z.Ivinskis, P.Jatulis, St. Matulis, R.Krasauskas, P.Rabikauskas, R.Mažeika and other historians of the emigration. He also looks at the works of Lithuanian historians E.Gudavičius, A.Bumblauskas, M.Jučas, I.Vaišvilaitė, L.Jovaiša and others. Events connected with the autonomy of Church structures and with the direct subordination of the Catholic Church in Lithuania to the Holy See influenced the history, cultural, and national traditions of our country in one way or another. The article looks at the relations with the Holy See from the viewpoint of Lithuania. From the times of the national revival, it was usual to paint the relations with the German Order and Poland only in black and white. At present, we need to look at this tendency critically; it must sink into oblivion and be replaced by consistent and objective research. [From the publication]
