ENThe article discusses the development of the image of architect Laurynas Gucevičius and his most significant creation, i. e. the reconstruction of the Cathedral of Vilnius in the Lithuanian popular culture at the end of the 18th century. In the 20th century, by using the printed sources of the 19th century and the periodical publications of the 20th century, attempts were made to reveal the peculiarities and the reasons for popularity of the said image. The images of the Cathedral, nowadays reproduced on consumer goods (chocolate boxes, bank cards, merchandise for tourists) evidence that the image of the Cathedral found its way from the primordial, in a strict sense, religious practice of limited use and the elite scientific environment to all the cultural layers, including everyday consumption.
