Dėmesys kreipiamas ne tik į istoriografijoje eskaluojamą Jonušo Radvilos išdavystę, bet ir tiriama, kokia buvo elito ir miestiečių laikysena kito agresoriaus - Maskvos atžvilgiu. Darbe nagrinėjamos Rusijos okupuotos teritorijos, gyventojų priesaikos carui peripetijos ir aplinkybės bei bajorijos savivaldos institucijų veikla.

ENThe article analyzes the contradictory situation of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during the times of the Deluge. The attention is drawn not only to the betrayal of Janusz Radziwill, escalated in historiography, but also to the stance of the elite and townspeople with regard to the other aggressor – Moscow. The study examines the territories, occupied by Russia, the peripeteia and circumstances, pertaining to the inhabitants’ oath to the Tsar and the activities of the nobles’ self-government institutions.
