LTStraipsnyje gvildenamos lietuvių teatro istorijos metodologinės problemos, aktualūs, jau šiandien Lietuvai būtini tyrinėjimai: tai ir nacionalinio teatro genezės klausimas, ir lietuvių teatro istorijos pirmųjų knygų, pasirodžiusių sovietmečiu, kritinis įvertinimas, kai kurių teatro istorijos tarpsnių naujas pateikimas, periodizacijos klausimai. Straipsnyje polemizuojama su Vytauto Maknio teiginiais dėl profesionalaus lietuvių teatro įkūrimo datų, naujai aiškinami kai kurie teatro reiškiniai, komparatyvistinio metodo privalumas tyrinėjant teatro istoriją bei įrašant ją į pasaulio scenos meno kontekstą. ENThe article deals with the methodological issues of the history of Lithuanian theatre and discusses what studies need to be carried out today. Among these are the issue of the genealogy of the national theatre, critical analysis of the first books on the history of Lithuanian theatre published in the Soviet period, reassessment of some historical periods, and issues of periodization. The article debates some Vytautas Maknys assumptions concerning the dates of the establishment of Lithuanian professional theatre, provides new interpretations of some theatrical phenomena, and discusses the advantages of the comparative method in the study of theatre history and its use in placing the history of Lithuanian theatre in the global context of performing arts. It also stresses the necessity of the analysis of theatrical sources and defines their scientific value and importance. [From the publication]
