Summary / Abstract:

ENYouth employment in the European Union countries is affected by gender-based discrimination. The aim of the study is to analyze young people gender-based discrimination in employment in the selected countries of the European Union. The research employed both methods of investigation, namely theoretical and empirical. Theoretical analysis and theoretical modelling were implemented in the present work. The empirical study was based on the survey questionnaire. In March-April 2022, the survey was carried out in five European Union countries. Altogether 309 respondents from Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, Lithuania, and Romania took part in the survey. The theoretical analysis allows for establishing the theoretical inter-connection between youth employment and gender-based discrimination. The theoretical modelling allows for modelling self-assessment as part of self-evaluation. The main finding of this empirical study is that young people beliefs about gender-based discrimination are twice higher than a level of exposure in relation to gender-based discrimination. Also, the analysed data allows finding out that the level of exposure related to youth gender-based discrimination in employment in the selected European Union countries refers to the level “rarely”. Keywords: youth, European Union countries, gender-based discrimination, beliefs, level of exposure.
