Konstituciniai sumanymai Lietuvoje XIX a. pradžioje (1806-1812 m.)

LTXIX a. pradžioje buvusios Lenkijos-Lietuvos valstybės likimo arba tuomet dažnai vadinamo "Lenkijos klausimo" aktualizavimas turėjo keletą priežasčių. Plrmiausia, tai prieštaravimų tarp galingiausių to meto politinių-karinių jėgų - Rusijos ir Prancūzijos - paaštrėjimas. 1807 m., susikūrus Varšuvos kunigaikštystei, o 1809 m. jai sustiprėjus, kilo ir kitų Rusijos imperijos okupuotų ir inkorporuotų į jos sudėtį kraštų, tarp jų ir Lietuvos likimo klausimas. Tokios tarptautinės sąlygos bei nestabili politinė-ekonominė padėtis Rusijos viduje sudarė palankias sąlygas Lietuvos bajorijai kelti valstybingumo atkūrimo klausimą [p. 7].

ENIn the beginning of the 19th century the Lithuanian nobility and especially the aristocracy promoted the idea of the statehood of GPL. M. K. Oginskis and his adherents tried to implement this idea in the form of political autonomy within the framework of the Russian Empire. Moreover, the Lithuanian nobles viewed the political autonomy of GPL as the important step towards restauration of statehood of Poland and Lithuania. Acquisition of guarantees for the creation of politically autonomous GPL from the Czarist administration was the task of utmost importance. The constitution of GPL the project of which was prepared in 1811-1812 had to secure them. However, the change in the political situation in Europe and within Russia put an end to the implementation of those attempts.
