ENThe child‘s oncological disease is a critical situation for his parents and a great shock for the family. The reactions of the parents to the diseases are equal to such psychological traumas as the death of a close person, divorce, experiancing physical violence (Juocevičius and others, 2003). Certain questions arise from the context of this problem: what experiences are specific for the parents after they find out about their child‘s oncological disease? What experiences are specific for the parents who care for the child with an oncological disease? Research subject. Experiences of the parents. The aim of the research. To reveal experiences of the parents while caring for the child with an oncological disease. Research methods. The analysis of scientific literature and a qualitative research method applying a semi – structured interview, a qualitative content analysis. Conclusions. The assesssment of the results of the research revealed that when parents find out about the child‘s oncological disease, they experienced emotional difficulties, social isolation, denial of the disease, emotional tension. However, some parents experienced positive reactions and resigned to the diagnosis of the child‘s oncological disease. A frank nurse‘s communication reduced the anxiety of the parents. Such families stated their need for care: physiological, communication and social isolation solutions, psychological, spiritual. While caring after the child with oncological disease his family members experienced a change in their relations among themselves. Almost all parents resigned to the child‘s oncological disease.
