ENThe article analyses how the construction of contemporary models of Polishness in Lithuania is influenced by Polish identity politics, understood here as part of the formal, structural and public politics ofthe mother-land, which aims to shape collective identities based on ethnicity. According to the author, the key to understanding today's Polish identity politics is the contemporary "Kresy" discourse shaping its foundations, which was born as a result ofthe post-war change of state borders. The author proposes to look at these phenomena from the perspective of postcolonial studies. Although Poland has never had its own literal colonies, since the late 1990s representatives of various academic disciplines have been increasingly bold in speaking about it, the "Kresy"discourse bears clear features of an orientalizing and postcolonial discourse.
