ENLithuania, which lost its independence as a result of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, in its efforts to regain sovereignty undertook a number of actions aimed at condemning this act. A turning point was the joint action called the „Baltic Way" on 23 August 1989 in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, with the participation of 2 million people. It took place on the 50th anniversary of the German-Soviet agreement. It showed the determination and strength of the independence movements. Representatives of the Polish minority also took part in these actions. They did not constitute a significant percentage of the demonstrators, but they were a noticeable group with significant symbolic significance. Their participation emphasized the supranational aspiration to rebuild Lithuanian statehood. Keywords: „Baltic Way", Lithuania, Polish minority, Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact.
