LTMokslinėje literatūroje sveikatos raštingumo sąvoka apibrėžiama kaip gebėjimas skaityti, suprasti ir veikti, naudojantis sveikatos priežiūros informaciniais šaltiniais. Pasak V. Šveikausko (2005), Vakarų šalių autoriai nagrinėdami sveikatos raštingumo problemas sveikatos ugdymą įvardija kaip socialinės politikos elementą. Klaidos sveikatos ugdyme rodo žemą sveikatos raštingumo lygį. Pagrindiniai žodžiai: sveikatos raštingumas, burnos ertmės higienos įgūdžiai, burnos sveikata.
ENAim of the study - was to set and compare the oral hygiene literacy levels of students in Klaipėda statete college. In addittion, the work compares students who study in the first and third years, oral hygiene literacy level with dental hygienists functions. Methods: It was a cross - sectional survey, which evaluated oral hygiene literacy levels of students enrolled in the first and third year in Klaipėda state college. Overall 119 respondents were examined. Results : Oral hygiene illiteracy has been determined for student who study in first year. The oral hygiene literacy level correlates highly with dental hygienists functions. The survey showed that the majority of respondents 77% and 76% has a modest flow of information about oral health. 60% I course students are at least oral hygienist or III course students (34%). 11% III course students are more aware about oral hygienist services.
