Tai klasikinė, akademinė disciplina, kurios pagrindinis tikslas - muzikos pažinimas perjos istoriją - nesikeičia. Pats dalyko pavadinimas suponuoja jo trauką prie stabilumo ir patikrintų vertybių, tačiau keičiasi studijųsistema, kurioje muzikos istorija atlieka savo funkcijas, ir būtinybė veiksmingai funkcionuoti joje skatina ne tik suvokti vykstančius procesus, bet ir reaguoti įjuos. ENThe continuing Education System modifies the social education comprehension and the modification is taken as a constant and permanent state. For this reason, when striving to retain the traditional experience of the delivered course by reforming and updating it, the strategic landmarks of these steps should be taken into consideration. The History of Music is a classical academic course whose basic aim - cognition of music through its history - never changes. The modelling of the context, teaching methods, professor-student relations can and must change. The following trends are suggested: to differentiate the delivered History of Music course according to the students academic level, to turn more resolutely from the reproduction teaching methods to the students selfregulatory education, to make use of the History of Music possibilities for developing the students narrative capabilities. In the varying process of the studies, side by side of specific problems of the History of Music course, the situation also reflects general predicaments of social education.
