Novos upės baseino archeologiniai žvalgymai

LT2004 m. buvo išžvalgytas Novos upės dešinysis krantas nuo Novos-Pentos santakos vakaruose iki kelio į Žvirgdaičius rytuose. Dešiniajame Novos krante iš V į R yra įsikūrę šie kaimai: Bukšniai, Klepai, Kirmiškiai, Voveriai, Mockupiai, Rugiai. Kairiajame krante buvo žvalgoma atkarpa nuo Šakių-Kudirkos Naumiesčio plento vakaruose iki vieškelio į Žvirgdaičius rytuose. Šioje atkarpoje yra įsikūrę Bliukiškių, Urbantų, Murinų ir Žėglių kaimai, priklausantys Šakių r. Sintautų sen. Novos upės baseinas iki šiol archeologiškai nebuvo žvalgytas, jokių duomenų apie šioje teritorijoje esančius archeologijos paminklus. išskyrus Ročkų-Turčinų piliakalnį dešiniajame Šešupės krante, nėra [p. 282-283].

ENIn 2004 during the archaeological expedition to the Nova River basin (Sintautai subdistrict, Šakiai district) 8 sites containing flint-stone items of the Stone Age and the 17th-18th century settlement and cemetery were found. 9 test pits each with an area of 1 m2 and a test trench with an area of 8 m2 were excavated. 17 m2 were investigated in total, and archaeological finds of different periods were collected. The earliest ones were the flint-stone items typical to the Early and the Middle Mesolithic (the 8th-7th millennium B. C.) The potshards of the later period attributed to the 17th-18th century settlement (the 1st site at the Voveriai Village). The village cemetery called Milžinų kapai (the Graves of Giants) (the 4th site at the Voveriai Village) were used in the 18th century and probably later.
