Dujotiekio trasos Kaunas-Šakiai archeologiniai žvalgymai

LT2004 m. KPIP vykdė projektuojamo dujotiekio trasos Kaunas-Šakiai (iš viso 63 km) archeologinius žvalgymus. Dujotiekis bus tiesiamas šalia jau veikiančio, nutiesto XX a. 9 dešimtmečio pradžioje be archeologinių žvalgymų ar tyrimų, tad buvo reali galimybė rasti nežinomas archeologines vertybes. Tai žvalgymų metu visiškai pasitvirtino, nes būsimo dujotiekio trasos vietoje rasti 3 nežinomi archeologiniai objektai (visi Kauno r.) [p. 276].

ENIn 2004 during the archaeological survey of the Kaunas-Šakiai gas pipeline route 4 unknown archaeological sites were discovered in its path or in the vicinity: the Virbaliūnai unfortified settlement of the mid 1st millennium A. D., the Altoniškiai Mesolithic camp, the site an industrial building at Kuras dating to of the Modern Ages and the Bernatoniai manor site of the 17th-18th century (all in the Kaunas district). In the Rupunioniai burial ground investigated in 1980 two items coming from the 7th-8th century cremations were found: an iron socketed spearhead and a knife.
