ENThis article focuses on the problem of the Polish-Lithuanian conflict in 1918-1920 and the restitution of Poland after WWI. The text presents an analysis of the validity of the partition treaties of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which will give answer to the question about whether the Second Polish Republic was the successor to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and whether in this case Poland after 1918 had a right to the territory ofthe former Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Moreover, the article describes the problem of the legal character of the Polish-Lithuanian conflict of the years 1918-1920 and the weight of arguments raised by both parties with regard to the disputed lands.
