Biržų pilies rytinio griovio išorinė pusė

LTSklype Pilies g. 1 2006 m. spalio mėnesį buvo atlikti žvalgomieji archeologiniai tyrimai. Tyrimų vietos buvo pasirinktos būsimos naujos tvoros statybos vietose, t. y. sklypo R, P ir V pusëse. 2 šurfai buvo iškasti ir kieme tarp gyvenamo namo ir ūkinio pastato, 1 šurfas – ūkinio pastato R pusëje, 1 šurfas prie senosios tvoros V pusëje. Iš viso buvo iškasta 12 šurfų (1 x 1–1 x 2 m dydžio) ir ištirtas 14 m2 plotas [p. 194].

EN12 test pits (with a total area of 14 m2) were excavated in the lot at Pilies St. 1 in 2006. For a long time the approaches to Biržai castle had been there so that no cultural layer had formed. In test pit 10, which was dug on the edge of the moat, the original ground surface was discovered at a depth of 1 m and the edge of the moat was made of clay. In test pits 11 and 12, which were dug in the bottom of the moat, a 30–60 cm thick layer of silt was found.
