ENIn 2006, 3 trenches (with a total area of 240.5 m2) were excavated in the settlement at the foot of Lentainiai hill fort. A cultural layer up to 20 cm thick and traces of a briefly used fire site were found in trench 17a. A 35–60 cm thick cultural layer and 21 objects ascribable to settlement were found in trench 19. These included 9 open cooking pits and 4 pits of uncertain purpose. The five individual boulders and groups of them should be ascribed to cooking pit paraphernalia. Two ceramic pots with rough surfaces and rubble, which served to warm the rooms, are exceptional finds. 10 objects ascribable to the settlement were found in trench 20, which had an area of 61 m2. These are 5 open cooking pits and a briefly used fire site, 1 posthole, and 4 pits of uncertain purpose. The archaeological objects and finds discovered during the excavation date to the Middle Iron Age or the 2nd half of the 1st millennium.
