Summary / Abstract:

LT2022 m. KPIP tęsė 2021 m. D. Kiniulio pradėtus detaliuosius tyrimus Pilaitės piliavietėje(UK 5645) (ATL 2021 metais, 2022, p. 171176). Detalieji tyrimai Pilaitės piliavietėje buvo vykdomi moksliniais tikslais, siekiant išsiaiškinti rūmų išplanavimą, jų išlikimo laipsnį ir pratęsti 2021 m. vykdytų tyrimų metu aptiktos koplyčios su laidojimo rūsiu tyrimus [p. 164].

ENIn 2022, Trench 1 (8.3 x 4 m totalling 33 m2) in the middle of the palace at the Pilaitė Palace site in Vilnius revealed fragments of the N and W palace walls and an interior 5.72 m long wall connecting them as well as a multitude of rubble created during the palaces demolition, including an abundance of sherds of household pottery, stove tiles, and structural ceramics along with 2 coins dated 1570 and 1665. Only the palace’s foundations, a stove base, and paving fragments have survived. Trench 2 (17.2 m2) on a corner of the lower terrace at the NE foot of the castle hill examined the still uninvestigated NE part of the chapel along with the burial crypt under it, revealing the outline left by a vaulted ceiling on the crypts NE wall. The chapel had been 30 m2 in size. The results of the anthropological and radiocarbon investigations were presented by combining the 2021 and 2022 research material. The crypt contained the disturbed remains of 5 individuals, 16th-17th-century representatives of the noble Astikas, Glebavičius, and Gorskis families, the lords of Pilaitė Castle. The 17 test pits (totalling 70.86 m2) excavated in 2022 yielded 19th-20th-century layers and the former brewery’s foundation, revealing its external dimensionsto be 10 x 7.9 m. This foundation datesto the last reconstruction in the 19th century, as noted in the 1869 description of Pilaitė Manor.
